I believe this is the only piece I ever wrote for Book Forum, and it’s a longy. Eric Banks was a guy I barely knew—he was friendly with Tom Nawrocki, who had been my editor at Worth magazine. I remember Eric invited us to watch the Kentucky Derby at his apartment once. He called me out of the blue to review this sort of Gladwell-ish book about how crowds are smarter than individuals and I remember really enjoying it. This ran in Summer 2004 and like about half of everything I’ve ever written, it demonstrates my obsession with the atrocities committed by the nazis.
Regards, Helpful stuff!
