Green Magazine Gets the Suck.com Treatment

It was something of a badge of honor to be made fun of by Suck.com. In the very beginning of web publishing, the idea was to throw up as much badly written content as possible on a terrible looking site. Suck took the opposite tack. Great writing, one story a day, with a clean, distinctive design. Man, did it work. Suck set the template for Gawker in a lot of ways (a ton of places did, obviously—everything influences everything) and it was a shame when it ran out of gas a couple years later. But when it was good, it was really good. This caricature of the Green team—Ken, Becky, John, and that’s Jay with just his hat showing—was another great Pat Redding illo.
