I have no recollection of how this piece came to be. Did I know anyone at the LA Times editorial desk? How did someone there know that I was a lifelong fanatical devotee of “The Price Is Right”?
No clue why they thought to call me but I’m so glad they did.
This was a terrific chance to honor Bob Barker in the last week of his outstanding career. Bob sent me a note after this appeared that was every bit as gracious as you’d expect from such a gentleman. And I was invited to appear on “Talk of The Nation” with Neal Conan to discuss Price with all these NPR callers.

I’m jealous! I have waited my whole life to “come on down!” Or at least get a note from Barker.
That was actually my second or possibly third note from him. Old school! Guy actually took the time to thank those who were interested in his work.
I love the handwritten note. Very special
